Le Sentier Cathare (GR 367): - Foix to Tuchan

Overview

During your hike on the Sentier de Cathar trail, you will come across various historical sites, medieval castles, and picturesque villages associated with the Cathar movement and the subsequent Albigensian Crusade. You will experience the rich history and culture of the region while enjoying stunning landscapes, lush valleys, and dramatic cliffs.

The 240 kilometers (about 150-mile) trail is typically divided into stages that range from moderate to challenging. This section hike adventure invites you to explore the western third of the Sentier de Cathar with only the essentials on your back, offering the freedom to roam the countryside. Bid farewell to luggage on day 1, to be reunited on day9.

The Sentier de Cathar is a long-distance hiking trail in southern France. The trail traverses the rugged landscapes of the French Pyrenees Mountains, following the historical routes that were once used by the Cathars, an important and influential spiritual group persecuted by the Roman Church in the medieval period.
